LOCAL COMMUNITY

Being part of the
Community - During the last twelve years
MCM
have supported the community of Jacksdale & Westwood by sponsoring
BADJER
News, acting as a drop-off centre for newsletter distributors, collecting
community group subscriptions and also by storing community group equipment.
Individual staff of MCM
have been involved with community events, with one member of staff standing as
BADJER
Newsletter Editor and another member of staff
serving as BADJER Editor and later as the Chairperson who brought
Maypole Dancing back to the village. We have also helped to arrange Heritage events, Plant Fairs and other
fund raising events within the village. We sell books in aid of The
Portland Path Project and Christmas Cards in aid of JACHs. In 2009
our staff were instrumental
in helping to return the missing soldier statue to the Jacksdale War
Memorial and were part of the committee that arranged the day to
celebrate the return of our soldier. Our community work goes on as we love to support the
community we work in. Our proprietor, Carol, maintains the Jacksdale
Community website, holding position as webmaster for over ten years
and also currently stands as BADJER Treasurer and JACHs Secretary.
We are also very
proud to announce that our proprietor, Carol Taylor-Cockayne
( Back Row ~ Far
Right) was awarded an individual Ashfield District Council Rural Citizen
Award for 2009 in recognition of her work done in the Community and again in
2012 was part of the Heritage Team who were awarded an ADC Community Group
award. Carol has personally overseen funding applications which have brought
over £65,000 of funding for various good causes into the village.
You will find that MCM staff 'crop
up' in the oddest places - running a 'bottle stall' at a BADJER Fair, overseeing
races on Soldier Day, frying bacon in the kitchen at a Heritage Day, or planting
flowers around the village war memorial with the BADJER team.
This village is our community and we always hope to be a very helpful part of
it.
